Call for Student Films: Submissions Now Open for the 3rd Babel Film Awards
Are you a student filmmaker aged 14-18 based in Hong Kong or Asia? The Babel Film Awards, one of the most prestigious events for student filmmakers is back for its 3rd edition in March 2026! Hosted at Chinese International School in Hong Kong and involving over 500 student filmmakers each year, the Awards will include an Open Competition featuring the best short films made by high school students in the past year.
Rules & Eligibility
Students aged 14-18 enrolled in a school in Hong Kong or Asia are eligible
Films must be 1-7 mins in length, including credits (required), and made in in the past year
Any fictional film genre is accepted (documentaries or music videos are not accepted)
Each student can submit 1 film maximum as director
Films must not contain any copyrighted material, including music
Films not in English must be subtitled in English
Films must not contain any cursing; sexual or violent content; depiction of nudity, self-harm, smoking or substance abuse; or promotion of illegal activities
Films created for Babel 48, Film Stylo or Short Film Lab are not eligible
