Short Film Incubation

Be part of a professional student film production.

About

Are you an aspiring filmmaker? It can be hard to find professional filmmaking experiences suitable for high school students. Without access to these opportunities, you will be unprepared to work on professional film and media projects in the future.

Short Film Incubation applies industry-level filmmaking practices to an original short film created entirely by students with guidance from professional filmmakers.

Through Short Film Incubation, students aged 14-18 will get the rare opportunity to be part of a professional short film production led by students. You will create an original short film under guidance from professional filmmakers; collaborate with other passionate student filmmakers; and learn industry-level practices that you can apply to your own projects.

You’ll also learn skills rarely addressed in student-level projects, such as how to:

  • Write a strong script

  • Cast actors through auditions and find crew

  • Direct professional actors

  • Operate professional equipment

  • Run and work on a film set

  • Set up an editing workflow and color grade

  • Promote and submit to film festivals

This program is taught by professional filmmakers whose short films have screened at film festivals worldwide, as well as graduated from the top US film schools. If you want to gain professional film credit and take part in a production that goes beyond most students have ever seen, then Short Film Incubation is the ultimate opportunity for you!
