thanks for participating in film stylo! to submit your film, make sure your film meets all rules and guidelines, and fill out the submission form below.

rules

  • 1-2 minutes in duration

  • based on the theme “high hopes”

  • voice-over or captions-based

  • non-fiction

  • school-appropriate content

    • no cursing; sexual or violent content; illegal activities; self-harm; smoking; or substance abuse

filming guidelines

  • all shots filmed in 1st person

  • includes a film stylo shot: shows you (the filmmaker) pointing a camera in a mirror or reflective surface

  • must not show your (the filmmaker’s) face, except in film stylo shot

editing guidelines

  • copyright-free music only

  • include film stylo title card at beginning

  • include credits with your (filmmaker’s) name

  • english subtitles required if film is in another language

  • export in .mov or .mp4 in HD (under 1GB)

  • uploaded to downloadable google drive link

new york times contest

  • your entry also qualifies for nyt’s coming-of-age multimedia contest

  • a 400-word artist statement will be required

  • indicate in your submission if you’d like us to submit this on your behalf

  • deadline: Nov 3, 2024
