Casting: Chinese International School Student Film
Project Description: A noir sapphic romance about Marlene, who falls in love with a married woman. Together, they navigate forbidden passion and the dangerous consequences that arise from societal rejection and dark secrets. The story explores themes of love, betrayal, and survival against a backdrop of crime and deception.
Cast Roles:
Mrs. Nancy Donnelley (female, 15 and above): The ‘Femme Fatale’ of this film, sly, manipulative, and cunning. Speaks very properly, and must be able to convey coldheartedness, greed, dominance in the relationship, and being emotionally abusive. For inspiration, look at Phyllis Dietrichson from Double Indemnity.
Waitress (female, 15 and above): Comic relief and a side character, appearing in one scene as the driving force to introducing the relationship between Mrs. Donnelley and Marlene. Speaks with a rough accent (either Cantonese or Southern based on location closer to the date), must be able to convey no-nonsense bluntness, down-to-earth traits with respect for the ‘upper class’
