Week-Long Activity

Immerse your students in a unique Hong Kong filmmaking challenge.

Hollywood Hong Kong

Want to offer your students a unique filmmaking challenge? Hong Kong is one of the most iconic cities in cinema, but students rarely know why, which means they lack a crucial understanding of Hong Kong’s cultural significance to a global audience. In this week-long activity from Babel Film Workshop, which is also suitable as an IB CAS Week activity, students will be challenged to make original short films at the location of an iconic movie shot in Hong Kong, including Hollywood blockbusters like Dr. Strange, Godzilla vs. Kong, and The Dark Knight.

They will:

  • Learn to write, direct, shoot, edit, and act in a short film through collaboration

  • Make short films at the actual locations of movies shot in Hong Kong

  • Understand how their films shot in Hong Kong may appeal to a global audience

  • Work with teachers who have experience in the Hong Kong and international film industries

Completed films will compete for an award judged by professional filmmakers and teachers. Students can optionally sign up as a group of 2-5 students to be part of the same production team.
