Film Appreciation Workshop
Take a journey through the world of cinema to learn how to appreciate and discuss major film crafts, including: directing, screenwriting, acting, cinematography, production design, and editing. Participants will be guided through the creation process of a film, and understand how each film craft contributes to making film the most powerful storytelling medium in the world. This unique viewing experience will transform participants from passive audience members into active critical viewers, and has previously been conducted at Renaissance College, Yale University, and Watkinson School in the U.S.
Duration: 1 hour
Modules: English-language cinema; Chinese cinema; or International cinema
Craft Workshops
Gain hands-on experience in a variety of film and media crafts, with topic options including filmmaking, photography, acting, communication, and vlogging. Through these taster workshops, students will be introduced to the basics of each craft, and experience creating a small-scale project that involves them, learning both creative and technical skills. Workshop topics can be further defined and tailored to students’ interests and needs (ex. focus on video editing within a filmmaking workshop).
