Story: 16 year old CHANG is passionate about two things: Pokemon and basketball. And outside of his best friend Bo, he’s a little on the unpopular side and just tries to navigate high school like any kid – which includes bullies and girls. In his efforts to impress Kristy, the new girl on the marching band, Chang overcompensates and bets his school rival and captain of the basketball team Matt, that he can dunk a basketball…
Roles:
Chang (16, Male, Chinese): Chinese-American, 5’8” tall. A member of his high school’s marching band, Chang is passionate about two things: Pokemon and basketball. And outside of his best friend Bo, he’s a little on the unpopular side and just tries to navigate high school like any kid – which includes bullies and girls. In his efforts to impress Kristy, the new girl on the marching band, Chang overcompensates and bets his school rival and captain of the basketball team Matt, that he can dunk a basketball… in 12 weeks’ time. He trains day and night with former basketball player De’Andre, all while keeping the entire bet a secret from his strict, but well-intentioned mother. Chang seemingly gets everything he wants but learns some important lessons along the way. Speaks elementary Mandarin. Beginner to intermediate basketball experience.
Kristy (17, Female, any ethnicity): Even though Kristy is the new girl in school, she garners the attention of high school rivals Chang and Matt. A member of the marching band, Kristy is an impressive drummer who worships 90’s rock bands. She can often be seen wearing her Metallica tee and acid-washed jeans. Cool and mature, Kristy is unimpressed by Matt’s cocky attitude. She warms up quickly to Chang, but sees right through him when he makes a bet with Matt with her as the prize….Drumming/Percussion experience.

If submitting for the role of KRISTY please tell us a bit about your drum experience. If submitting for the role of CHANG please tell us a bit about your basketball experience.
For the acting scenes, make sure we see your face. Position yourself so that your focus is just to the right or left of the camera lens. Do not look into the camera lens while acting. Have someone read the lines for the other characters in the scene(s) opposite you.If you are auditioning for the role of KRISTY please include a few minutes of you playing the drums. This can be a few minutes of you casually playing drums, doing some snare drills, playing drum kit, whatever you would like!
