We are delighted to share that Babel Film Workshop student Sytric Chan from West Island School has won the Silver Award in the Youth Category of the 29th ifva Awards!

Sytric’s film “Untitled” was announced as the winner on Sunday, March 17th, after its screening at the ifva Festival earlier this month. Organized by Hong Kong Arts Centre, ifva is one of Hong Kong’s most prestigious film festivals, making Sytric’s win especially commendable.

“Untitled” is a 25-minute short film that sets out to “provide a glimpse into the lives of two youths, and the way the innocent childhood gives hope to those corrupted through time.”

Sytric first became involved in Babel Film Workshop through our annual Film Stylo competition, where they won the Top 5 Award. They have since become a student in our Short Film Incubation program, in which aspiring high school filmmakers lead a professional short film production under guidance from Babel Film Workshop.

Another film that won the Top 5 Award from the same year, Reia Kwan from King George V School, was also selected for the 29th ifva Festival, and screened out-of-competition as part of the Jury Recommendation program.

Congratulations to Sytric on winning the Silver Award, and to Reia for her film’s selection!
