Craft Meets Community: People‑First Coverage at the Hong Kong Whisky Festival

Event coverage should feel alive—not like a timetable recap. At a whisky festival, it’s easy to point the camera at bottles; we pointed it at people. We leaned into first‑sip reactions, in‑the‑moment banter, and the community energy that turns a tasting into a shared experience, shaping fast, social‑native edits built for the pace of the event.

About the Event

The Hong Kong Whisky Festival is one of the city’s flagship spirits gatherings. Brand showcases, immersive tastings, and special releases drew whisky lovers, industry representatives, and curious first‑timers to explore new releases, meet distillers, and celebrate Hong Kong’s whisky scene.

The Challenge

The festival organizers needed content that would:

  • Produce an overarching event-coverage video capturing the festival’s scale and atmosphere

  • Deliver same-day reels that spotlighted booths, masterclasses, and crowd energy

  • Create three additional fun, trend-led reels to showcase the personal side of whisky lovers and the event’s scale

  • Keep content approachable for newcomers while still resonating with aficionados

The Solution: People-First, Personal Stories

We centered the festival around people’s experiences and love for whisky. On the floor, we captured candid first sips, favorite pours, and conversations with brand ambassadors and masterclass hosts—framed through attendees’ perspectives rather than technical tasting breakdowns. Light interactive prompts encouraged viewers to share their own preferences, keeping the tone approachable for newcomers while still resonating with aficionados.

Deliverables & Results

  • 1 event‑coverage video delivered in horizontal and vertical formats, serving as the hero recap for partners to reshare post‑event

  • 2 same-day edit videos for each day of the event, with one becoming the highest-viewed organic video on the HKWF Instagram platform

  • 3 fun, trend‑led reels to showcase attendee reactions, behind-the-scenes moments, and festival highlights

  • Photography coverage of people, booths, masterclasses, and event happenings

The result was coverage that didn’t just document the festival—it extended it, inviting new fans and longtime enthusiasts to share in the experience.
